Another Way to Bleed by Susan Harris

This book definitely hits all the bells and whistles for a paranormal story. Things have changed in the world; the human population now knows there's more out there than they realized. Vampires, demons, fallen angels, witches, and who knows what else. Whole cities and islands have been surrounded with a magical barrier, creating prisons for everything you don't want to meet when you're alone in the dark.

Rescued by Luka, before the vampire that converted her mother had a chance to also convert her, Cassie has been in training and working as an assassin of rogue vampires and other out-of-control things that go bump in the night. When she accepts a mission from the queen demon herself, her life is about to get interesting.

Lilith wants her missing son found and brought back. In exchange, she'll learn what her mother kept secret to her death - the identity of Cassie's father and a prophecy. Betrayed by learning who else knew of the prophecy and kept its knowledge from her, she runs away. Secrets are revealed that leave you thinking, hmmm.

I actually found myself laughing at a few points thanks to Cassie being such a smart mouth at times. It gets her in trouble at times, but I love it. A short story that reads well with a fantastic turn at the end, this book is a great starting point for a series. I'm looking forward to seeing what she'll give us in the next installment of this series.

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. My bottom line? As soon as it's available for Nook I'm getting it. This book is only available at Amazon right now.
